Romania's minister of culture says she will ask French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton to acknowledge that a traditional Romanian blouse directly inspired items in one of its 2024 collections.

Romanian traditional clothes and textiles have “an exceptional, special aesthetic”, according to textile specialist Florica Zaharia, pointing at the blouse’s “ discretion and elegance”.

The International Day of the Romanian Blouse, marked each year on 24 June, coincides with Snziene, a midsummer Romanian folk celebration with deep roots in pre-Christian traditions.

According to AFP, the group had earlier made more than one complaint against brands that design clothes inspired by the Romanian culture without credit, but their complaints gained "mixed results".
