Joseph Mensah is a former Wauwatosa police officer who resigned in November 2020. He fatally shot three people in five years while in the line of duty.

Former Wauwatosa police officer Joseph Mensah shot and killed 17-year-old Alvin Cole in February 2020. A federal jury failed to reach a decision on Thursday, March 20, resulting in a hung jury.

Joseph Mensah will "transition out of the law enforcement profession," he said in his resignation letter to Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson.

A civil trial in March 2025 brought against Mensah by the parents of 17-year-old Alvin Cole, who was shot and killed by Mensah at Mayfair Mall in February 2020, ended in a hung jury.
