A man died after he was hit by a train south of downtown Nashville early Thursday morning.

Parking is at a premium in Nashville ahead of July 4, especially after the downtown parking garage near the library caught fire June 10.

The Metro Nashville Council has advanced a bill that would wrap the Gulch into a downtown district that comes with a special levy.
