The Mason City Council approved the purchase of the Suzie Q diner in downtown Mason City for $50,000. The diner has been closed since the April 2024 fire that destroyed the Kirk Apartments.

The menu remains rooted in pancakes and hamburgers, though fripperies are also available, like soft scrambled eggs cacio e pepe, smoked salmon pastrami, and granola made in house.
