Dozens of people filled the pews at the Sunnyside New Life Community Church on Thursday as members and local officials unveiled a new historical roadside marker commemorating the community's legacy.

After weeks of negotiating with the Washington Commanders and pressure from Mayor Muriel Bowser and Congressional leaders, the D.C. Council came to an agreement on its first vote on the deal.
