A deal signed in Washington has been touted as a major step toward peace in Congo following decades of conflict that has killed millions, including thousands this year.

Trump in recent months has been working the phones and meeting personally with world leaders in an effort to resolve conflicts.

The official signing of the peace agreement took place earlier Friday at the State Department and was witnessed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Senior Adviser for Africa Massad Boulos, whom Trump has largely credited with bringing about the deal.
