Members of the U.S. Senate last week proposed a major sale of federal land as part of the “Big, Beautiful Bill” proposed by Republicans to fund the U.S. government.
“Republican lawmakers from California have a duty to stand up and say, ‘I'm a no on this until the public land sale provisions are taken out of the bill,’” Carroll said.
If passed as written, it would make at least 250 million acres of public land available for sale, mandating at least 2 million of that be sold over the next five years.
