The Department of Education has temporarily paused discharges for Income Based Repayment (IBR) plan student loan borrowers in order to comply with ongoing court injunctions.

That all changed in October, when the federal government resumed reporting student loan delinquencies to credit bureaus.

If a college is cut off for accessing federal financial aid programs, students may not be able to afford to attend, and the school could see enrollment and revenue collapse.
