Pacific Drive was first revealed in 2022 at one of Sony’s State of Play livestreams. It’s the debut project from Ironwood, founded in 2019 and headquartered in Seattle.

Pacific Drive is a game that emphasizes crafting upgrades so you can survive longer in the wilds. As such, it's important to gather materials, even from objects and parts that you no longer need.

Pacific Drive, by comparison, has no combat to speak of. It’s just you, your station wagon, and a few voices on the radio, up against a hostile, unpredictable environment.

"Pacific Drive is about the fantasy of being a mechanic, and of developing a strong relationship with your car. We wanted all of that to be pretty immediate and accessible," he says.
