School of the Week: East Laurens Elementary collected canned goods for a good cause With the help of the Beta Club & Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the school collected over 700 canned goods.

Closing East Elementary School had been cast by the district as a way to save an estimated $3 million in operating costs, Newsday reported. District officials feared a loss in state aid last year.
