The center, which was previously known as the Oro Valley Marketplace, was sold last year to Town West Realty after the retail center faced troubles due to the Amazon effect.

Oro Valley Mayor Joe Winfield was holding off a challenge from former longtime town police chief Danny Sharp in Tuesday's election. Winfield has been mayor of the town north of Tucson for four years.

Developer Terry Briggs is proposing the 108-room hotel to be located on South Delaware Drive, near Route 611, in Easton.
