Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) and OpenAI have entered a strategic partnership to construct an additional 4.5 gigawatts of AI-focused data center capacity in the United States, significantly expanding the Stargate infrastructure project.

Stargate, a multi-billion-dollar effort by ChatGPT's creator OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle to supercharge the U.S.' AI ambitions is now setting the more modest goal of building a small data center by the end of the year,

OpenAI announced Tuesday that it will develop 4.5 gigawatts of data center capacity in partnership with Oracle ORCL — confirming an expanded partnership between the two companies within the buzzy Stargate infrastructure initiative. Oracle stock was slightly lower Tuesday.
