It's shot in an astounding 4K resolution, showing every detail of the area near Fairbanks, Alaska, as lights dance in the sky. The wisps of the green aurora light are positively dazzling.

Traveling to a high vantage point away from light pollution is the best bet to see the northern lights, according to NOAA. The lights will peak between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time.

The aurora's are back! And may be visible throughout the weekend. The University of Alaska and NOAA track auroras using the Kp-index, a global auroral activity indicator which has a scale from 0 to 9.
