States in the U.S. may be able to see the northern lights for a second night in a row on Monday, June 2, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Northern lights could be visible in Alaska and Canada on July 23. Northern parts of the contiguous U.S. have a lower shot at seeing aurora borealis.

The current auroral forecast gives those in the northern U.S. the best chance at catching the celestial show after sunset. That includes states at or above the red view line on the map below.

Not visible in daylight, the best times to observe northern lights is just after sunset or right before sunrise. As long as the sky conditions permit, it cam be observed from as far as 621 miles away.
