The water level in Lake Monroe is expected to crest Thursday morning, but the beaches likely will remain closed for a while, an official with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said.

Lake Buchanan, located near Burnet and Llano counties in Texas, hit its highest water levels in 20 years following historic rainfall and Fourth of July floods.

Business operators say a fuller Lake Shasta is drawing more tourists to the reservoir.
