NETTLETON – Nettleton High School students, teachers, parents and staff were recognized Dec. 16 for their roles in helping the school achieve an A rating reflective of the 2023-2024 school year.

Kevin Skwira-Brown has two children at Nettleton Magnet School, which focuses on reading, science and technology. His family lives outside the attendance area and uses district busing.

It not only measured the effectiveness of an entire school, it also measure the school’s effectiveness with subpopulations: boys, girls, Blacks, whites, Hispanics, slow learners, fast learners, etc.

NETTLETON – One big difference for the Nettleton School District for ’23-’24 school year is a split for grade levels at the upper elementary and middle school levels.

For elementary school magnet programs, the district received 4,928 applications for next school year. Of those, 1,270 were accepted — about 26 percent.
