The Nazca Lines are a group of geoglyphs in the Nazca Desert created between 500 BCE and 500 CE. Hundreds of these mysterious carvings have been discovered over the past century.

Jorge Olano, head archaeologist for the Nazca Lines research program, said the new figures averaged between two and six meters (6.56 to 19.7 feet) in length.

One of the world’s greatest ancient enigmas, the Nazca lines are a dense network of criss-crossing lines, geometric shapes, and animal figures etched across 200 square miles of Peruvian desert.
