NASCAR is pausing the Chicago street race because it needs more time to try to reschedule the event and reduce the build-out and breakdown of the pop-up racecourse.

NASCAR added the current goal is to return to the streets of Chicago in 2027. Previously, NASCAR entered a three-year agreement with the City of Chicago to host street races.

The NASCAR Chicago Street Race will not return to Grant Park in 2026, but could come back in 2027, after a three-year contract ended, officials said.
