A McKinney police K-9 was killed Thursday during a shooting involving an officer, according to the Texas Municipal Police Association.

Police say the man shot a 52-year-old woman and then barricaded himself in his motel room. During a shootout, police say the suspect fatally shot K-9 Aziz. The armed man was also shot and later died.

A suspect and K-9 officer were both killed Thursday in an exchange of gunfire in McKinney, police say. Officers were called to a motel along Highway 75 at White Avenue just before 3 p.m. for a report of another shooting.
