World-renowned heart surgeon Dr. Jack Copeland has resigned from the University of Arizona to take a job in San Diego.

In 1971, he started having heart problems. Over the years he had seven bypass surgeries and was implanted with six stents, three pacemakers and a defibrillator. He had a heart transplant last year.
