Microsoft Lens was that type of app: a mobile document scanner that turned paper documents, business cards, receipts, and anything else into easily readable digital files. Now, that app is being discontinued, Microsoft says, as it directs its users to its Copilot AI chat app instead.

Microsoft Lens is a free app, available on both Android and iOS devices, that lets you do things like scan documents, convert images to PDF/Word/Excel/PowerPoint files, digitize handwritten text, save to OneNote and OneDrive, and more. It’s one of Microsoft’s most highly rated apps, with 4.8 stars and 50M+ downloads on the Play Store.

Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue its Microsoft Lens application in the coming weeks, directing its users to its Copilot artificial intelligence application. The Lens application serves as a mobile scanner for all sorts of documents.
