Tugboats pulled in vain and crews struggled to unload cargo from a 730-foot freighter that hasn’t budged for two days since it ran aground near Toledo, blocking ship traffic on the Maumee River.
The freighter, identified by the Coast Guard as the Maumee, is owned by Grand River Navigation, of Avon Lake. The company, which also employs the crew, operates bulk-carrying cargo boats.
