The Marriott hotel in Prague refused to host a conference this month aimed at drawing attention to alleged human rights abuses in China, the hotel chain confirmed to CNN on Friday.

The Montgomery County Conference Center employs about 140 people, according to a Marriott spokesperson. It’s also a venue frequently used by local lawmakers and political groups for events.
