The space weather forecasters in the US have warned of a strong geomagnetic storm that could reach up to severe or G4 level.

The northern lights could also be visible Tuesday night in parts of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Alaska.
