New Qi2 25W Wireless Charging Coming to “Major” Android Smartphones
The initial introduction of Qi2 in 2023 to the world has been mostly a bust. The standard was created as a way for all smartphones and accessories to adopt magnetic alignment wireless charging, basically using Apple’s MagSafe technology.
WPC Unveils Qi2 25W Wireless Charging; iPhones, Some 'Android' Phones to Get Support
The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has announced the launch of the faster Qi2 25W wireless charging, which will support iPhones and some “major Android smartphones.” Previously referred to by its version number, Qi2.2, the technology will now be officially known as Qi2 25W.
Google is expected to launch the Pixel 10, Pixel Watch 4, new Pixel Buds and maybe even a MagSafe-alternative on August 20.
Rumors suggest the Google Pixel 10 might offer 'Pixelsnap' accessories, and I think this could herald the age of Qi2 and magnetic accessories on Android.
