CBS News Los Angeles Live. As Los Angeles Metro continues work on the D Line Subway Extension Project, the D, or Purple Line will close for a little over two months beginning May 17.

The entire D (Purple) Line subway will remain out of service for 70 days so crews can connect the existing line to its planned extension to West Los Angeles.
