Ledisi, who is a Grammy Award-winning singer cum songwriter, delivered her rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing at the Super Bowl today, sparking a frenzy on social media.

She was joined during the pregame by youth choir members to perform the song, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary.

The 52-year-old sang while dressed all in white and assisted by a choir of 125 high school students from New Orleans.

The national anthem has been involved in American sports for over a century, dating back to at least the 1918 World Series.
