According to the 11 p.m. Thursday advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Bret is moving west at about 18 mph and is expected to continue in this direction for the next couple of days.
The Lesser Antilles are comprised of numerous island nations and territories, including the U.S. Virgin Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, and Trinidad and Tobago, among others.
Located about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, the system was producing increasingly organized showers and thunderstorms Sunday morning, hurricane forecasters said in a 7 a.m. update.
Bret is expected to make its way across the Lesser Antilles Islands Thursday and move through the eastern and central Caribbean Sea on Friday and Saturday before weakening and dissipating.
