Lenovo's most powerful ThinkPad X1 laptop delivers a beautiful 16-inch display, powerful Intel Tiger Lake-H CPU and RTX 30 graphics in under 4 lbs.
Lenovo announced today the new ThinkPad X1 Extreme, refreshed for Gen 4. The refresh includes a new 16-inch 16:10 display, 11th Gen Intel Core H-series CPUs, and NVIDIA RTX 30-series Laptop GPUs.
Given that MSI’s Creator Z16 weighs 4.8 pounds, Dell’s XPS 15 hits 4.5 pounds, and the Apple MacBook Pro 16 squeaks in at 4.3 pounds, that’s truly impressive for the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4.
ThinkPad fans who want to do creative work on the go can now check out Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4. The laptop will launch in August starting at $2,149.
On the connectivity front, ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 has optional 5G Wireless LAN. The laptop has a 16-inch edge-to-edge display up to 4K, an FHD webcam and a speaker system.
Lenovo was selling the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 for almost the exact price of our L13 Yoga ($1,670) at this writing. The company's prices fluctuate weekly, so keep an eye out for sales.
The X1 Extreme Gen 4 can be configured with up to 64GB DDR4 memory, two 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSDs, and a standard 90-watt-hour battery for up to 10.7 hours of battery life.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 came in compact and secure packaging, much like all Lenovo devices I have reviewed. It came with a 65W USB-C charger, the proper documentation, and nothing else.
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 has two big heat makers: the GeForce RTX 3060 GPU with its 95 Watt thermal budget and the Core i7-11800H, which is a 45-Watt part by Intel's specifications.
