La Quinta started franchising in 2000 and was acquired by The Blackstone Group in 2005. After experiencing relative growth under Blackstone, Wyndham Hotels purchased La Quinta Corporation in 2018.

Wyndham made additional strides in furthering La Quinta's expansion by executing 14 franchise agreements between October 1 and December 31, 2018, all but one of which were new construction deals.
