Before the sun rose on Sunday morning, a mother bear and her two cubs walked through Eagle Point Campground in Lake Tahoe’s Emerald Bay, searching for food while campers slept. One woman woke up suddenly in her trailer: The mother bear was trying to get inside.

A light-colored female bear responsible for attacking a camper at Eagle Point Campground in Emerald Bay State Park on June 22 was euthanized, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said.
