Apple was not yet among the industry’s top five handset makers. Consumers bought a total of 1.16 billion smartphones in 2023, IDC estimates. That represents a year-over-year decline of 3.2%.

It's just not as high as the 4.3% growth rate IDC had forecast last month. The downward adjustment is based on fears of price hikes being passed on to consumers.

APAC’s Q1 2023 consumer spending on mobile grew by 1.7 points, PC/Mac by 2.2 points and home consoles by 0.4 points YoY. Data.ai and IDC attributed the growth primarily to South Korea.

However, Huawei's enterprise WLAN revenues declined 10.7% to $124.1M, giving the company a market share of 5.4%. The IDC said the latest Wi-Fi standards are helping propel growth in the WLAN market.
