Top experts from Colorado State University released an updated forecast for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

A disturbance hurricane forecasters were tracking Saturday in the Gulf of Mexico could bring heavy rains to the region next week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The National Hurricane Center on Thursday lowered its forecast chances that a system that had moved over Florida the day previous could develop into the season's next tropical depression or storm.

The chances for a scattered area of showers and thunderstorms to develop into something more increased overnight, but remain low, forecasters said.

While the National Hurricane Center's map is lit up with a tropical disturbance, Saturday's forecast is much more about the heat index.
