Former Department of Education employees and education advocates told ABC News that they worry this ruling could harm the most vulnerable children in the country.

Cuts have hit most of the department’s main functions, which include investigating civil rights complaints, providing financial aid, researching what works in education, testing students and disbursing federal funding.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon is expected to move quickly now that the Supreme Court has cleared the way for the Trump administration to continue unwinding her department.
