HBO's "The Gilded Age" films scenes in real historic mansions from the time period. Several mansions once owned by the Vanderbilt family in Newport, Rhode Island, appear in the show.
But in North Jersey you can. The Crocker-McMillin Mansion, a 120-year-old historic estate at 675 Valley Road in Mahwah, is one of New Jersey’s most notable properties.
At one point, Feinberg and Coxe convinced “The Gilded Age” creator Julian Fellowes to visit Newport’s mansions, setting up a candlelight dinner at Marble Head, complete with a harpist.
