HONOLULU — Hawaii coach Greg McMackin apologized Thursday for making a derogatory remark while describing Notre Dame’s chant during a dinner banquet leading up to last year’s Hawaii Bowl.

Greg McMackin's football team was absorbed with everything surrounding the Hawaii Bowl in that 2008 football season. Never mind that the bowl was played just 15 minutes from the Hawaii campus.
