A woman was seriously injured after a vehicle crashed into the water in Lake Michigan downtown Saturday, Chicago fire officials said. The crash happened between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the lakefront trail near East Balbo Drive in Grant Park.

A woman, 26, was driving southbound in the 800 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive at 7:42 p.m. Saturday when she veered off the road and into Lake Michigan, police said. She was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
