Los Angeles County won a preliminary injunction Thursday to stop Grace Community Church from holding indoor services, setting up a Sunday showdown at the evangelical megachurch.

Grace Community began in 1983 with 12 worshipers holding services at Clear Lake Intermediate School. From there, not too long afterward, the church found a Webster location, which it soon outgrew.

UPDATE — This week, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to settle its lawsuit with Grace Community Church by paying its half of $800,000. The state will pay the other half.

On July 29, Los Angeles County sent a cease-and-desist letter to Grace Community Church ordering it to obey the restrictions, but the church will not comply, the suit states.
