In late 2023, Google Chat was given a lick of paint and a general tidy-up – and now that refresh is rolling out widely to the Google Chat app on Android phones.

Before this update, Google Chat mobile apps had two tabs on the bottom navigation bar—Chat and Spaces. Google is updating the app with a four-tabbed navigation that corresponds to the web redesign.
