Congressional pressure is growing on the U.S. Treasury to help salvage trucking giant Yellow from bankruptcy, from Republicans and Democrats alike, letters viewed by Reuters show.

Yellow dished out $4.6M in bonuses to its top execs weeks before declaring bankruptcy. Over half of the sum was for retention bonuses as the company contemplated liquidating.

It expects to let go 437 employees at all seven of its Washington locations. Yellow operates out of Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, East Wenatchee, Union Gap, Pasco and Spokane.

For nearly 100 years, Yellow moved shipments from coast to coast. With its bankruptcy, 30,000 people are now without jobs.
