Louisiana’s top health officials say COVID-19 missteps damaged trust in medicine and that government should stop pushing vaccines. They urge a focus on chronic disease and medical autonomy.

“Vaccines should be treated with nuance, recognizing differences between seasonal vaccines and childhood immunizations,” Dr. Ralph L. Abraham, the state’s surgeon general, wrote in a memo.
