The ongoing demolition of the Walnut Street Parking Garage in Bethlehem has been halted after part of the structure collapsed Friday, causing a beam to fall on a nearby building.

The lot, on Block 7, was surface parking, but it closed at the end of last month to allow the construction of the garage. The eight-story parking tower will hold 829 spaces.
