FRENCH LICK, Ind. — Weeks after a hailstorm pelted a southern Indiana resort and shut down its historic atrium, officials said they plan to reopen the damaged atrium soon as crews continue repairs.

The 443-room French Lick Springs Hotel boasts a casino and a 27,000-square-foot spa, specializing in relaxation. To get an idea of the climate here, the heated outdoor pools opened March 1.

As the resort’s heyday passed, French Lick fell into disrepair and changed hands, closing for a year for renovation in 2005 and reopening in 2006.
