The first tropical storm of 2025 formed in the Pacific Ocean, off the southwestern coast of Mexico, on Thursday. According to a National Hurricane Center advisory issued Thursday afternoon, Tropical Storm Alvin will continue to be in warm ocean temperatures and low wind shear over the next 12 hours or so,

Alvin will have no direct impacts to the state of Florida, or much of the U.S., but becomes the latest first named storm to develop since 1973.

The first tropical storm of the season is likely to form as early as Wednesday, but it's not our coast and not our season.
