Fettes apologised in 2021 and has since has paid out £1.2 million to three former pupils who alleged they were abused by Iain Wares, a teacher at the college in the 1970s.

A spokeswoman for Fettes College said it had co-operated fully with police inquiries. "Police Scotland have carried out investigations into allegations of non-recent abuse," she said.
