The Resident Evil 6 Mercenary maps that were originally only available to those who pre-ordered the game are now available for everyone to purchase over the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 marketplaces.

Capcom today announced that the survival-themed Mercenaries mode will return in Resident Evil 6, but three bonus maps will be available only by preorder and will be split between a trio of retailers.

Maps, or people with information, like Umbrella's head honcho Wesker (Shawn Roberts), appear on omnipresent screens when our heroes are in trouble, or to feed back stories to Resident Evil newbies.
