A church on Detroit’s west side is trying to help those affected by the pandemic by any means necessary. Drew Sheard is a pastor at the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ.

The new Presiding Bishop served as senior pastor of the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ since 1988. Sheard has served in many roles throughout his time in the church.

The Church of God in Christ (COGIC) General Assembly, the legislative body of the denomination, has voted Bishop J. Drew Sheard of Detroit, Michigan as the leader of the worldwide organization.

The Church of God in Christ, which has its headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, was founded in 1907. Millions of members attend some 10,000 churches in more than 112 countries.
