DENVER — The Denver City Council ’s last action of 2023 was to approve a $30.9 million lease-purchase of the 205-room Embassy Suites hotel in southeast Denver to house the homeless.
The Denver City Council on Monday unanimously approved a plan to purchase an Embassy Suites in southeast Denver and convert the 200-room hotel into a shelter for unhoused families.
The price of the Embassy Suites, meanwhile, has been tabbed at $21 million. The city has been renting the 205-room hotel at an estimated cost of $825,000 per month.
Denver Police said they're investigating the incident. Denver Fire posted that crews were responding to the former Embassy Suites hotel off East Hampden Avenue at 2:15 p.m. Monday.
