The El Reno storm was the widest recorded tornado, 2.6 miles, in United States history. The EF5 twister was on the ground more than 16 miles before lifting.

On May 13, 2013, the El Reno tornado reached a record width of 2.6 miles, with wind speeds over 200 mph, and tragically claimed eight lives.
