Firefighters battling multiple wildfires across Colorado’s Western Slope are making gradual progress slowing fire growth and increasing containment, officials said Saturday.

The Deer Creek Fire on the Utah and Colorado has now exceeded 15,000 acres as a community meeting is scheduled for Saturday evening.

Crews are battling the Turner Gulch and Wright Draw fires near Gateway in Mesa County. Evacuations are still in place, but some were downgraded to pre-evacuations.

The event is open to Manatee County residents only, with no eligibility requirements for in-person pickup.
